Spectrum by Miguel Eedl

From mr. doob I found out about mr. Miguel Eedl. There doob releases JavaScript experiments every now and then, writes about that in his blog and is obviously a demoscene-nerd!

One simple but nice JavaScript demo 3D Waveform (HTML5) shows the waveform of one eedl song.

At one lovely evening at the pc I finally clicked on that link up there, listened to all the songs at eedl.es, then at his soundcloud profile. Listened up and down, picked some favorites.. and now I have it playing somewhat constantly.

Spectrum (look and hear above) has really taken a shine to me :]
haaaach this contrabass .. and all in all that crisp sound of the songs. Respect! I actually prefer phythmic music. Sound is secondary. Groove is essential.
Of course the eedl-sound won’t make a lot of asses shaking. Without that clear sound it’d be worth nothing. But I really like it somehow.

Die Story geht eigentlich viel früher los: Auf einem meiner Lieblings-iNetRadios netmusique/flaresound lief mal ne Zeit lang JEDEN Donnerstag um die gleiche Zeit ein und dieselbe Radiosendung. Also die selbe Aufnahme! Ja, jeden Donnerstag! Ah ok.. kleine Recherche später: Das ganze war eine der Freefall-Sendungen von David Bassin. Vielleicht kriege ich ja auch noch raus welche genau…

Jedenfalls gibts in der Folge ne ganze Reihe sehr cooler Songs. Eben jener im Titel ist mir besonders eingefahren und ich hab das Ding die letzten Tag hoch und runtergelauscht.

Die Kombination von wirklich leckeren Orgel/Pianosounds, funkigem Schlagzeug und Rap find ich ja sehr angenehm. Um hier überhaupt ma was direkt zu zeigen. Gebt euch ma Showdown: Auch weil man da sehr schön sieht wie der Herr Leo Tardin an den Keys abgeht:

Soll wohl heißen eine zu-Fuss-Swing-Band holt die Meute Sonntag-morgens am Festsaal Kreuzberg ab und begleitet alle zum Görli wo es dann mit Räuber Hotzenplotz, Disco Stu und Geschwister weitergeht. Wenn ich das falsch verstanden hab. Sach ma Bescheid! :]

Slightly delayed “song of the day”. But this one was definitely my sunday-song!! And a little bit today as well.. Oh man! I’d really like to have a real electro funk party like that.

Soll wohl heißen bißchen Handtaschen-House und so eRiC-Style halt… Hab aber auch nen paar neue Platten die ich ma anbringen werde. Und ich soll noch üben hab ich auch schon gehört!! *prust* *lol*

Das musste mir erst jemand anders mitteilen!!

Wie ich jetzt auch mal unter about geschrieben hab, spiele ich ja bei der Sambagruppe Sussurro do Asfalto mit. Letzes Jahr wurden wir ein paar mal vom Raymond und Mirko mit Kamera und Mikro begleitet wobei ein sehr cooles Video entstanden ist. Das ist mittlerweile auch online bei youtube zu sehen! Ja, ich bin der Typ mit dem Schlips :] So Sehet:

Der Sound kommt auch überraschend gut wie ich finde. Denn jegliche Aufnahmen von Sambabands klingen meist son bißchen meh. Kein Vergeich mit wirkich dabei zu sein! Nächstes mal lad ich euch auch ein hier ;]

Eigentlich ja nicht nur ein Song. Aber den House-Mix hier von der Labelseite von Heya Hifi höre ich die letzten Tage hoch und runter.

Nacho Marco – Sugar Fängt etwas shuffle-ig, garage-mäßig an, dann Herrn Kruse himself mit “Can I Have It“ auf Heya Hifi. Sehr geil! Errinnert mich stark an Vincenzo. Gruber & Nuernberg – C’mon Dance is auch cool, aber Fish Go Deep – ESL mag ich mehr. Danach kommt sogar nen Vincenzo-Mix: Rivera Rotation – All Day.  Und Pete Doyle – What God Has Chosen (hab ich sogar schon) im Mix von Jimpster (den hab ich letztens im Weekend verpasst. Das darf nicht nochmal vorkommen!!). Schliesslich das wirklich fantastische Kruse & Nuernberg – R U In (Elmar Schubert Remix)… ooohhh jaaa. Leider scheints den Track nirgends zu geben.

die letzten 3 Tracks sind leider bis auf den vorletzten etwas belanglos.

Hmmm been a while, huh? I’m a little rushed from some sides. But there is a lot up!

At the moment I’m actually blogging from the tUM in Karlsruhe Durlach! So Yes! a little demoscene again. And looks like I’m going to do a release myself! okok nothing really special: There is a music loop compo held. Its about a small piece of music (7sec) thats made to be played over again 3 or 4 times without getting boring. Actually my speciallity. Because every time I make music I don’t get past making loops. Finishing a track is not my cup of tea. I like arranging live. Isn’t it more exiting anyway? For apology on this spot I could say that good old Aril Brikha is recording his records this way only (at least I strongly believe he is doing it that way)! :]
If oficially released I gonna make the releases of our group available here.

Not much time for mel scripting though. But theres been at lease a little buzz on cgtalk about melDrop. But looks like I already threw it all over again on paper

Next version melDrop will be only directly available for script authors. Users get the melDrop script in the zips already so they don’t need to bother. Actually that wors already but I have some more thing up my sleeve that I need to work on the interface for. Apropos interface: This is gonna be awesome next version! All settings on one page. All on one view. You click Ok and see the installation progress and thats it. Plus arbitrary number of attached files and shelfButtons and Hotkeys with arbitrary commands.

The blog needs care as well I know.. I’d need to finish the about page and the language integration. But I upgraded to wordpress 2.7! Its not perfect but real cool that the next upgrades will be sans manually copy file by file.
