Some of this german traffic signs (“Zeichen 301: Vorfahrt (nur an der nächsten Kreuzung oder Einmündung)“) are attached with screws right in the middle of the sign. So they look like eyes of a little man. Recently I rediscovered this one in Berlin Kreuzberg and took a picture. I instantly thought that one would have to tinker this:

Update: I just linked the sign from wikipedia. There is an awesome collection of all german trafic signs as well! All in SVG so arbitrarily scalabe. A real cockaigne for icon- and symbolfreaks like me :]
